Tournament Lake Okeechobee
Do you aleady have spots picked out from a previous tournament? No, I try not to rely on previous years spots
What considerations or steps were taken in narrowing down your search to a particular pattern or area of the lake? Water color and vegetation
Did what you find in practice work in the tournament. How did you adjust if it didn't? It worked, but the quality of fish changed dramatically
What stage are the bass in - pre-spawn, spawn or post spawn? In all stages there
Have you fished the lake before? How has it changed since the last time? Water level, grass, etc. Yes , this year the water was about 2 feet higher an had the fish scattered out alot more
What was the water temp? In the mid 60's
How much actual fishing did you do in practice, or was it mostly scouting areas? Daylight to dark
Did you fish Deep or Shallow? In this lake, 7 feet is deep so its usually always a shallow bite
What was the main bass forage in the lake? Shiners
What lures(s) did you use most in practice? In the tournament? 1 ounce jig, and punch a 2 ounce with a Sweet Beaver. (ECO PRO Tungsten)
Most used rod / technique in practice / tournament? 7'11" GLoomis flipping stick with 70 lb Samurai braid
Did the weather hold up from practice to the tournament? If not, what adjustments did you make if any? The weather sat up perfect, we were on a 3 day warming trend
What will you take from this event into the next tournament? Not at all our next stop is totally different.
Best meal you had? We had a very good friend host a fish fry for us
Best non-fishing memory / moment? Making sandwiches for my traveling partner and putting chewing gum on them
